The 2025 Masters was a thrilling ride for golf fans, and it ended with Rory McIlroy taking down Justin Rose in a playoff round to complete his career grand slam.
The winner of the tournament in 2024, Scottie Scheffler, ended up drawing some backlash when handing McIlroy his green jacket after his win, and he recently addressed the situation.
After shooting par in the opening round, McIlroy responded by shooting 6-under-par in each of his next two rounds, giving him a two-stroke lead heading into the final day. It was a roller-coaster of a ride for McIlroy, who shot 1-over-par on Sunday, but when all was said and done, he finally earned that elusive Masters victory.
“It’s the best day of my golfing life,” McIlroy said of his victory at the Masters. “I’ve literally made my dreams come true.”
