PGA Tour announces updates to Signature Events, gives Tiger Woods lifetime exemption

More changes to the signature events.

CROMWELL,Conn.—RumorsthatanannouncementregardingadealbetweenthePGATourandthePIFthatoperatesLIVGolfwouldbemadeonTuesdayprovedtobeunfounded,butthecomingoutofaPolicyBoard/PGATourEnterprisesBoardjointmeetinginHartfordbeforethestartofthisweek’sTravelersChampionship,changestotheeightSignatureEventsstartingin2025havebeenmade. TheSignatureEventsareTheSentry,AT&TPebbleBeachPro-Am,GenesisInvitational,ArnoldPalmerInvitational,RBCHeritage,WellsFargoChampionship,MemorialTournamentandTravelersChampionship. Thefirstchangeisanincreaseintheminimumfieldsizeforthesetournamentsto72.Withmassivepurses,playerswhoqualifyfortheSignatureEventsnearlyalwaysplayinthem,butstartingnextseason,therewillbeanalternatelist,soifaplayerwithdrawsbeforetheeventbegins,hisspotwillbegiventothehighest-rankedplayerontheAonNext10listwhoisnotalreadyinthefield.
