PGAofAmericaclubprofessionalMichaelBlock,whomadeanameforhimselfwithanaceandT-15finishatlastyear’sPGAChampionship,hasbeenenjoying15minutesoffamethathavelastedayearnow.InhisreturntothePGAChampionshipthisweekatValhallaGolfClub,the47-year-oldgotofftoashakystart(tosaytheleast).
BlockbeganthefirstroundonThursdaywithabogeyonthepar-41stholeandthenmadeaneight-coursemealofthepar-42ndhole.He justmissedthefairwayofftheteeandthencameupshortandleftofthegreenwithhisapproach.Histhirdshotwentoverthegreen.Hisfourthshotwentintoabunker.Hisfifthshotalsowentoverthegreen.Hewasfinallyonthedancefloorwithhissixthshot,butmissedthe11-footerfortriplebogey.Blockthentappedintoputthecarrotonthesnowmanforaquadruplebogeyeight.
